1) How does Young Minds Kids iOS app keep children safe online?
Young Minds Kids uses advanced Mobile Device Management (MDM) and VPN technologies to protect your child’s online experience. These tools work together to filter internet activity according to your chosen safety mode, ensuring your child only accesses age-appropriate content while browsing the web and using apps.
2) What restrictions can Young Minds Kids iOS app apply?
Young Minds Kids currently controls internet access through web filtering and app blocking. The app monitors and restricts internet traffic, allowing you to control which websites and apps your child can access.
Please note: Due to iOS platform limitations, we cannot restrict individual apps beyond internet-based access.
3) Which modes are available in the YoungMindsKids iOS app?
Parents can choose from:
- Study Mode: Only educational content is allowed.
- Wind-down Mode: Only music content is allowed.
- Bedtime Mode: All internet access is restricted.
- Screen Free Day: All internet access is restricted.
- Custom Mode: Parents can set their own rules and restrictions.
Each mode can be fully customised based on your child’s age, schedule, and needs.
4) How does Bedtime Mode work?
Bedtime Mode restricts all internet access to help your child disconnect and get proper rest. In addition to blocking internet access, you have the option to Hide Applications on iOS, which removes distracting apps from the home screen during this period.
5) What does the “Hide Applications on iOS” option do?
When Hide Applications on iOS is enabled in Bedtime Mode, all apps with an age rating of 4+ are hidden from the device for the duration of the mode.
Please note:
- When the mode ends, apps reappear but are re-organised in alphabetical order.
- Any folders your child created are removed.
- All apps are moved to the Home Screen (no folders).
If your child relies on folders to organise their apps, we do not recommend using Hide Applications, as it will remove the folder structure.
The total device usage time shown in YoungMindsKids is approximate and based on your child’s online activity.
- Time is measured only when the device is connected to the internet.
- Offline usage (e.g., apps that do not use the internet) is not included in the total usage time.
This provides an accurate view of online activity but may not reflect full screen time across offline apps.
7) Can I mark certain apps as “Always Allowed”?
At the moment, the iOS app does not support “Always Allowed” apps. Access is determined by the selected mode. This feature is planned for a future release.
8) Are there upcoming improvements for iOS?
Yes. We’re actively working on features such as individual app restrictions, daily time limits, and always-allowed apps to give parents more flexibility and control.
