FAQ

What is general Web Filtering?

General Web Filtering allows you to control which websites your child can access when no screen time mode is active.

General Web Filtering lets you control which websites your child can access when no Screen Time Mode is active or when a mode is set to use default filtering rules.

It helps block harmful or inappropriate content, supports safer browsing, and gives you more control over how web access is managed on your child’s device.

With General Web Filtering, you can:

  • manage website access by category
  • create rules for specific websites
  • choose different actions depending on the type of website or activity
  • block unsupported browsers that could bypass filtering
  • block uncategorised websites that have not yet been reviewed

For website categories and individual websites, you can apply different actions:

  • Allow – the website or category is accessible
  • Block – the website or category is blocked
  • Alert Me – access is allowed, but you will receive a notification in the Parent App when your child visits it
  • Ignore – behaves like Allow, but can be useful in cases where Allow does not work correctly because of technical restrictions

Rules set for specific websites override broader category-level rules.

For detailed instructions on how to configure General Web Filtering, please see the article: Set Up Smart Web Filtering.
