After you’ve created your Parent Profile, download the Young Minds Kids App on your child’s Android device or Young Minds Kids App on your child’s iOS device. Log in using your parent account credentials, then follow the on-screen instructions to configure the app.
You’ll be prompted to either add a new child or select an existing child profile, and then assign a name to the device. After that, you’ll proceed to set up the required permissions for monitoring and protection.
Permissions Required for Full Functionality on Android devices
To ensure proper monitoring and screen time management, the Young Minds Kids App will request the following permissions on Android devices:
- Accessibility Reporting – Enables monitoring of app usage and web activity, providing detailed reports to support safe digital habits.
- Device Admin – Prevents the app from being uninstalled without your approval.
- App Display – Allows the app to show notifications when time limits are reached or apps are blocked.
- Usage Data Access – Enables tracking of device usage for reporting purposes.
- Notification Access – Keeps the app running in the background for continuous protection.
- Battery Optimization Exemption – Ensures smooth operation and uninterrupted monitoring.
- Device Location (coming soon) – Will provide location history tracking.
- VPN Service – Will enable web filtering, enhance browsing reports, and strengthen online safety.

- Mobile Device Management (MDM) – Allows enforcement of rules set by Parent

- Notification Access – Keeps the app running in the background for continuous protection.
